The workshop organises amateur classes in its specialist technical fields. The classes are aimed at both beginners looking to get a first impression of the restoration world and those who want to further their knowledge and skills. Special importance is given to encouraging a respectful and traditional approach to restoration. Each participant is required to bring an own item of furniture to be restored. A fascinating theoretical lesson at the beginning is followed by some demonstrative lessons and several practical exercises. The participant will deal with the main pillars of restoration, like for instance:
- assessment of age and style, assessment of techniques of restoration and degradation level of the item
- assessment of the maintenance to be carried out
- wood carving and inlay techniques
- chromatic decoration and gold-plating techniques
- finishing and polishing techniques
- knowledge of tools and materials and their appropriate use
Every class foresees 8 meetings of three hours each with a minimum number of 4 and a maximum of 6 participants. The classes take place at the workshop premises. On demand we can also organise classes in other locations.
Registration for the course encompasses the participation fee as well as the use of tools and materials which are available at the workshop.
